Stewart Field House
Oldest field house west of the Mississippi
Stewart Field House sits at the foot of King Drive on the Southwestern College campus in Winfield, KS. Its bulk and weight measure its historical importance to Southwestern's legacy. Construction began in 1922, with the first basketball game played in January 1924. Stewart has witnessed nearly 88 years of Southwestern basketball, making it the oldest field house west of the Mississippi still used for its original purpose.
During the 1990s and 2000s, Stewart received an expansive renovation that included locker facilities, a parquet floor, trophy gallery and new entrance. Stewart is also the location of SC coaches and athletic trainers. Catch an SC volleyball or basketball game, and you’ll see why Stewart Field House is considered one of the best small college athletic facilities in the country.
