Our 2011 Initiative

At the Foundation we have a very specific job; we raise funds to support William Newton Hospital. WNH is a non-profit hospital that cares for anyone, regardless their ability to pay. The Foundation also works to continuously seek ways to improve the healthcare available to the families and individuals of our community. In 2011, our focus has been on raising funds to aid in the recruitment of physicians to our rural community. This is an incredibly important task as our community is estimated to lose 30% of our primary care physicians to retirement in the next five years. Leaders and board members at WNH have been very proactive in the challenge of recruiting physicians to care for our community, and have enlisted the help of the Foundation to generate funds for recruitment purposes. "The availability of quality healthcare is vital to the economic well being of a rural community. A strong healthcare infrastructure is dependent on having an adequate number of physicians in the right specialties to meet community healthcare needs. In an era of physician shortages, this requires commitment to identifying current and future needs and having the resources to offer financially competitive opportunities," Dick Vaught, Hospital Administrator.
